Fundbox is looking for a Director of Data Science (Staff Data Scientist) that will deliver the next generation of data science and decisioning capabilities for our business.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree plus 8 years of experience in data science, or PhD plus 5 year of experience in data science
At least 5 years experience in open-source programming languages (including python and SQL) for large-scale data analysis and machine learning.
Flexibility to explore new ideas and stay at the forefront of emerging technologies, including integrating methodologies like GenAI and LLMs into business workflows.
Experience in formulating business problems that involves complex data and models
Ability to collaborate with other disciplines and communicate models and methods
Experience in mentoring other team members and developing data science talent across the company
Responsibilities
Drive the adoption of cutting-edge advancements, such as GenAI and LLMs, to solve complex business problems and enhance underwriting workflows.
Mentor junior data scientists to foster growth while delivering impactful individual contributions to drive team and business success.
Develop a roadmap to enable production deployment of new technologies and translate novel research into tangible in-market impact
Deliver and manage the next-generation machine learning models used in credit underwriting and marketing decisions
Partner with a cross-functional team of business and financial analysts, software and data engineers, product managers in the definition and delivery of business and customer experience outcomes

Compensation and Benefits:
We anticipate the US base salary range for this full-time position is $200,000 - $280,000. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the amount the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position across all US locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors (i.e. job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training).
